Embracing Diversity with “Strangers Everywhere”
from April 20th to November 24th, 2024

Get ready to be immersed in a world of art and reflection as the 60th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale kicks off under the artistic direction of Adriano Pedrosa. Running from Saturday, April 20th to Sunday, November 24th, 2024 (with pre-opening days on April 17th, 18th, and 19th), this edition marks a significant milestone: Pedrosa, the first Latin American curator, leads the International Art Exhibition of the Biennale, and notably, the first curator residing in the southern hemisphere.

Themed “Strangers Everywhere,” the Biennale promises to delve into the multifaceted concept of the stranger, encompassing notions of the marginalized, immigrants, refugees, exiles, indigenous peoples, and the queer community. Through the lens of both historical and contemporary artists, this edition invites contemplation on the myriad interpretations of “the other” in our interconnected world. Additionally, a special section will pay homage to the Italian diaspora, further enriching the dialogue on global migration and cultural identity.

As the art world converges in Venice, prepare to embark on a journey of discovery, empathy, and appreciation for the diverse tapestry of human experiences. The 60th Venice Biennale promises to be a testament to the power of art in fostering dialogue and understanding in an ever-changing world.

And with the “vernici” or openings starting as early as mid-April, the excitement and anticipation are already palpable in the air.
