From August 28 to September 7, 2024, the iconic Lido di Venezia will host the 81st Venice International Film Festival, celebrating cinema and star-studded glamour. This year’s event, dubbed “Venice 81,” promises a dazzling spectacle with a parade of stars gracing the red carpet at the Palazzo del Cinema. The festival opens with Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega, and Monica Bellucci. This year, the Board of Directors of the Biennale, presided over by Pietrangelo Buttafuoco, adopted the proposal of the Festival’s Director, Alberto Barbera, to honor American actress Sigourney Weaver with the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement. Weaver is celebrated for her iconic roles in films like, just to name a few, Alien, Ghostbusters, and Avatar.
