Get ready to immerse yourself in the enchantment of Venice as the much-anticipated Carnival of Venice 2024 kicks off with a spectacular water parade. In collaboration with the Coordinamento Associazioni Remiere di Voga alla Veneta, the carnival begins on Sunday, January 28, from 11 am to 1 pm.
Witness a breathtaking procession of traditionally adorned rowing boats, led by the iconic “Pantegana” made of papier-mâché. The lively gathering near Punta della Dogana transforms into a vibrant spectacle as masked rowers navigate the waters from Rialto, casting a kaleidoscope of colors against the backdrop of the iconic Rialto Bridge. The celebration continues in Erbaria, marking the symbolic commencement of the festivities.
This year’s theme, “Ad Oriente,” pays homage to Marco Polo‘s extraordinary journey to China. From January 27 to February 13, the city will come alive with a myriad of events, including water parades, masked float processions, street performances, and more.
